PET Inc. organizes educational adventure tours within the developing world. These tours provide the participants with meaningful ways to engage with the citizenry of the host country. Although traditional tourism to the Global South is not necessarily a bad thing, PET Inc. provide its clients with the opportunity to interact with rural communities far from the road(s) more normally travelled.

These tours often include road / mountain biking excursions, motorcycle trips deep into the backcountry, and nature walks that expose our guests to the flora and fauna of the tropics. The trips also include the opportunity to volunteer with local charities on a wide variety of self-help projects. It is interesting to note that most of our guests particularly enjoy the chance to work with special needs children living within the developing world.

PET Inc. tours and sporting events take place within Guatemala, Honduras, Sierra Leone and Uganda.

Motorcycles have become critical public health tools in remote areas of the developing world. They are able to reach rural regions quickly and inexpensively and overseas charities Canada have been utilizing small dual-purpose motorcycles in their overseas programs for decades.

PET Inc.’s motorcycle tours take small groups of experienced riders to some of the most isolated corners (and best roads) of Honduras, Guatemala and Sierra Leone, West Africa.

The point of these tours is to have the guest rider provide a local charity with the funds required to buy a new motorcycle for one of its field offices. The rider will then be given a guided tour of the designated country and at the end of the tour turn over his/her motorcycle to a national staff person.

New motorcycles cost approximately $6,5000. However, each participant receives a tax receipt for the full cost of his / her motorcycle. Additional expenses for food, lodging and gas are to be covered by the visiting rider, but PET Inc. will take care of all of logistical support and trip planning.

Please note, however, that the cost of Japanese dual-purpose 250cc bikes will change from time to time and are subject to currency conversation rates. A 9-day tour of either Guatemala or Honduras costs between $1,000Cdn to $2,000Cdn. This variance is dependant upon the guest rider’s choices in accommodations and cuisine. Please note that this does not include airfare.

If this alternative means of seeing the world and supporting poverty reduction interests you - please make application to join PET Inc.’s company of Philanthropic Adventures.

*Individuals interested in participating in one of PET Inc.’s  motorcycle tours must be over 18 years of age, physically fit and hold a Class 6 Drivers License. They must also be comfortable riding in off-road conditions and be good spirited / flexible people.
